Since last year´s event in London,
security concerns are clearly on the
rise. The recent terrorist attacks in
Paris and Brussels, and the intensi-
ve flow of refugees in Europe are all
subjects for increasing investments
in security systems.
For the second
year the fire and safety exhibi-
tion FIREX International will sit
alongside the security exhhibiton
IFSEC International at London's
Excel. With the two industries in-
creasingly becoming more aligned,
placing them side by side makes
it easier and quicker for visitors to
obtain the information, resources
and products they are looking for
when they visit.
IFSEC International will host
over 600 global leading supp-
liers under one roof across the
three days at London's Excel this
summer, with the likes of Tyco,
Milestone, UTC, Texecom, Salto,
Paxton, Hikvision, Dahua, Assa
Abloy, Axis, Canon, CAME and
Marshalls to name a few already
confirmed. In 2016 the show will
welcome more than 65 new exhi-
bitors to the show and architects of
the thoughtful home, Nest Labs,
Inc to FIREX International along
with AICO, Komtes, Rockwool,
Legrand Electrical and Lehavot
Advanced Fire Protection.
With a huge global reach,
IFSEC International annually
hosts every major territory active in
security and fire safety. In 2015 the
show welcomed the first ever South
African pavilion which returns in
2016 on an even larger scale. The
show has also seen steady growth
from European exhibitors parti-
cularly from Germany and France
as London is seen as a gateway de-
stination to the European market.
For example IFSEC International
2016 will welcome Tecnoalarm,

With the rise of the Internet of
Things (IoT) and Smart Buildings,
traditional fire and security sys-
tems are rapidly evolving. Systems
within buildings and cities are
now able to communicate without
human intervention; this presents
both opportunities and risks for
the fire and security industries.
Smart Buildings can hear, watch,
breathe, respond and collect mil-
lions of pieces of data collected
from IoT. The data collected is
vital in the management and sus-
tainable output of the building in
question, helping to reduce costs
and more importantly, increase
efficiency. It doesn't just stop at
buildings either. On a macro
scale, the data outputs of Smart
Buildings can be aggregated onto a
city level where networked systems
can provide critical intelligence
for sustainable transport, public
utilities and emergency services, in
turn, creating a Smart City.
