Vivotek launches four UHD cameras
Marketed as an industry first,
Genetec
Security Center Autovu
Automated License Plate Recogni-
tion (ALPR) solution now enables
parking enforcement organisations
to view video evidence taken by a
body-worn camera and automati-
cally correlate it with the license
plate data associated with an
infraction or altercation.
"Parking enforcement officers
are frequently threatened and
harassed during their day-to-day
duties," explains Robert Amante,
Autovu Product Manager. "These
altercations can lead to officer
injuries, staff demoralisation, and
increased turnover. By equipping
their officers with body-worn
cameras -rather than more threaten-
ing tools such as batons or pepper
spray-parking organisations can
help protect their staff without
escalating confrontations. Should
an altercation occur, organisations
now have access to both video
and ALPR evidence for ensuing
investigations."
With the simple press of a
button on a body-worn camera, an
officer can trigger a video record-
ing. Autovu associates ALPR-
equipped vehicles with specific
body-worn cameras, and ties video
clips to ALPR metadata such as
plate reads, GPS coordinates and
timestamps. When video evidence
from body-worn cameras needs to
be retrieved, users can easily search
based on plate number, time range
or by using maps.
Through this integration, park-
ing enforcement organisations can
deploy body-worn cameras as an
addition to their existing Genetec
ALPR system. Previously, custom-
ers had to deploy a standalone
solution to equip their officers with
body-worn cameras, a process that
was time-consuming and costly.
Support for body-worn cameras in
parking enforcement will be avail-
able from Genetec Autovu channel
partners by August 2018.
Building on one of the indus-
try's biggest ecosystems of parking
partners, Genetec has added
support for two new companies
to further enhance access to its
parking systems: Netpark, a cloud-
based point of sale and revenue
management software service
used to manage valet or self-park
operations; and Yourparkingspace
a web-based service that matches
drivers to available privately and
commercially owned car parking
spaces.
Vivotek
has recently released four
4K cameras. These new ultra-HD
cameras provide 3840 x 2160
resolution at 30 frames per second
and 1920 x 1080 resolution at 120
frames per second.
Compared to other devices
with standard 1080p resolution,
the video quality in these cameras
has seen significant advancement,
delivering images of four times
the resolution to viewers. Taking
into account security as well as
image quality, these four flagship
cameras have Trend Micro's anti-
intrusion software embedded to
provide users with higher levels of
network protection. The result-
ant combination means that this
series of cameras are well suited for
city surveillance, transportation
and industrial monitoring due to
their image quality and ability to
accurately render fine detail.
Thanks to the unique combina-
tion of H.265 compression and
Smart Stream III, video compres-
sion of these four cameras has been
brought into a new generation,
enabling savings on both band-
width and storage consumption of
up to 90%. This means that users
can enjoy engaging and detailed
imagery while compression tech-
nology reduces the size of recorded
data to a level below that of a
2 megapixel camera. Moreover,
Vivotek has launched four network
video recorders capable of support-
ing outstanding 4K imagery to
offer a total solution for users.
Under the strategy of "See
More in Smarter Ways", the
FD9391-EHTV and IB9391-
EHT include Vivotek's latest
technology - Smart Motion
Detection. Smart Motion Detec-
tion is able to recognise human
activities with precise accuracy,
without being affected by a change
of lighting or other factors. In
addition, the technology reduces
time spent on configuration and
fine tuning, thanks to its intuitive
configuration panel and clear
visual confirmation. Smart Motion
Detection results in a significant
reduction of false alarms and the
continued protection of people in
smarter ways.

Updated ALPR solution from Genetec
Gigabit media converter from Etherwan
Etherwan Systems'
EL8000 Series
of hardened 1000BASETXto
1000BASE-SX/LX/BX/SFP
media converters provides media
conversion between 1000BASE-
TX and 1000BASESX/LX/BX/
SFP fibre. It is especially suitable
for industrial applications, with
hardened features including high
shock and vibration resistance,
electrical noise immunity, wide
operating temperature range from
-40 to 75°C (-40 to 167°F), and
optimised thermal dissipation.
The series supports link-fault-
pass-through (LFPT), which
provides constant monitoring of
the links connected to the media
converters. It ensures that if a cop-
per link fails, the media converter
will pass the fail state on through-
out the link, disabling the fibre
link and the copper link on the
opposite end. Jumbo frames up to
10K bytes are supported, increas-
ing throughput and transmission
efficiency.
A relay alarm configured by
DIP switch sends notification in
case of power failure or downed

dant power inputs
