Mobotix platform certified SySS cyber secure
The manufacturer-independent
SySS GmbH
has tested and certi-
fied the security of the Mobotix
7 intelligent video platform and
Mobotix Mx6 security cameras.
Now the leading institute for
penetration tests in Germany has
confirmed the best possible cyber
security of Mobotix products and
solutions.
During the tests, hardware and
software components are subjected
to simulated hacker attacks in
several scenarios. These correspond
to the current cyber attacks, which
have recently led to data tapping
and data hijacking worldwide. The
testers of SySS GmbH are familiar
with the recent attack methods on
IT systems and research how to
prevent the intrusion into digital
infrastructures. With this exclusive
know-how, SySS GmbH tests IT
landscapes and looks for weak-
nesses and security vulnerabilities.
"The renewal of the SySS
certificate for our Mobotix 7 plat-
form and our Mx6 camera series
confirms our continuous acting.
We only offer our customers video
systems and solutions that provide
the best possible protection not
only for people, facilities, goods,
grounds, or buildings but also for
the data that our recordings col-
lect," emphasises Mobotix CTO
Hartmut Sprave.
With this news Mobotix aims
to assure its customers that they
will continue to be protected
against cyber attacks. Despite the
decentralised approach, the system
is Onvif - and H.264-compliant.
Furthermore, all Mobotix prod-
ucts and solutions are integrated
into the comprehensive cyber
security strategy, whose overall
measures are bundled in the Mo-
botix Cactus Concept.
"From the high-end video
system to our software and app
offering in the comprehensive
video management solutions, we
are the reliable, convincing and
cyber-secure solution provider in
the video surveillance market, with
the stringent high demand for best
quality," concludes Sprave.

The Vanderbilt NGCR Mullion
Reader range has now received an
IP66 rating.
Ingress Protection ratings are
defined in international standard
EN 60529. They are used to de-
fine levels of sealing effectiveness
of electrical enclosures against
intrusion from foreign bodies
(tools, dirt, etc.) and moisture.
As a guideline, IP ratings of
between 44 and 65 may be used
for indoor and general outdoor
use. An IP rating of 67 is the
highest achievable level, indi-
cating that the device may be sub-
merged permanently in water at a
depth of up to 13 feet. Anything
lower than IP44 should only be
for use indoors, however. IP66,
on the other hand, is typically
used for heavy-duty industrial
and waterproof electrical enclo-
sures.
To make the Mullion reader
range compliant to IP66, a few
hardware changes were under-
taken, marked on the packaging
label with hardware rev. 08. Cus-
tomers will notice a small open-
ing at the bottom of the metal
housing alongside a new rubber
gasket added to the packaging.

Optex
has expanded the offering of
its range of award-winning Intel-
ligent Visual Monitoring Solution
with the launch of a new 12-chan-
nel Visual Verification Bridge in
Europe and Africa.
The new 12-channel Bridge,
powered by Chekt, enables up to
12 ONVIF-compatible cameras
and alarms to be managed through
a single device, making it ideal for
larger sites such as major depots
and warehouses with constant
activity 24/7. The choice of a four
and now 12-channel device gives
greater flexibility to customers
managing multiple sites with multi-
ple devices.
The Intelligent Visual Monitor-
ing solution gives the `power of
sight' to monitored alarm systems,
meaning triggered alarms can be
visually verified within seconds and
responded to accordingly.
The Optex Bridge is the hard-
ware device (gateway) that is physi-
cally connecting the indoor and/
or outdoor intrusion sensors or the
panic buttons with the IP cameras
on site. It can work with any legacy
equipment as well as new systems.
It provides a complete audit trail
of activity and can detect when a
camera is not working (i.e. when it
has dropped out of the network),
and report the fault, thus ensuring
security is not compromised.
It communicates via a gated
Cloud portal with the Alarm Re-
ceiving Centre (ARC) or moni-
toring station in the appropriate
`language', having integrated with
all major monitoring software
platforms. It will, in effect, work
with virtually any intruder alarm
technology, or any alarm device
with a relay output and any Onvif
camera to deliver one seamless
visual verification solution.
Monitoring stations have the
ability to provide an easy-to-install
and cost-effective visual verification
service to residential and commer-
cial sites; the Bridge can be installed
and working within the hour. The
Cloud-hosted platform also allows
a stronger collaboration between
the ARCs and the home/business
owners by having the ability to
share video clips to confirm the
alarms while respecting any privacy
guidelines through its bespoke
privacy feature that only end-users
can release.
Ben Linklater, Commercial
Director at Optex Europe, says
the new 12-channel Bridge gives
more options to both installers and
monitoring stations: "Since launch-
ing our Intelligent Visual Monitor-
ing solution last year, the demand
for visual verification has continued
to grow. Most monitored alarm
systems are `blind', so the ability to
add video and see exactly what is
going on has significant benefits.
