key assets can obtain the tools to
ensure smart cities remain safe
and secure. Gerry Dunphy, Event
Director, Ifsec International states:
"We are really excited to expand
our partnership with Euralarm
this year, Ifsec International,
along with Firex International
and Ifsecglobal.com are fantastic
platforms to help engage with our
shared global audiences on such
a key topic. The development of
Safe Cities is a major addition to
Ifsec's strategic offering this year
and a leading conference such as
`Smart Cities: Safer & Secure' is a
statement of the direction Ifsec is
now taking."
Major trends
What will be the major product
trend at Ifsec 2015? It remains to
be seen, but new research shows
that access control sales are grow-
ing faster than video surveillance
right now. However, IP cameras
alone are still growing even faster
and they are expected to be an
important part of the show but
access control has entered the
arena of IP and there is a growing
demand to integrate access control
with video surveillance. Perhaps
there will be more access control
systems displayed at the show than
in previous years. Open and inte-
grated systems are of course also
important trends. During 2014
there were not so many cloud
based security solutions displayed
at the major security shows, can
that change in 2015? You will
find the answer at Ifsec in London
16-18 June. n
Ifsec 2014 had some
40,000 attendees from
more than 100 countries a 29
per cent increase since 2013.
Furthermore, a survey showed that
visitor's overall budgets in 2014
had increased by almost 9 per cent
and more than 30 per cent of the
attendees had a budget in excess
of £1million. Evidence suggests
that the success will be repeated
in 2015 already in November,
92 per cent of the floor plan had
been booked. When the doors are
opened at Excel in mid June, more
than one third of the visitors are
expected to be international.
Many product areas
Ifsec 2015 will cover many areas
of security including Safe Cities,
Intelligent Buildings, IT & Cyber
Security, Video Surveillance &
Intruder Alarms, Integrated Se-
curity Solutions, Access Control,
Perimeter Protection & Physical
Security. Two brand new seminar
theatres will be dedicated to
technology and innovation and
Ifsec Global will be running an
Innovation Showcase online in the
run-up to, and live at the event.
There will be a total of seven
seminar theatres on the show floor
where the industry's pertinent
topics are to be discussed, debated
and determined.
Ifsec and Euralarm have an-
nounced a partnership that will
include a new half-day confer-
ence taking place on 17th June
called Smart Cities: Safer &
Secure, and it will explore how
those responsible for protecting

Ifsec, London, 16-18 June
Will Ifsec
repeat its success?
Ifsec will return to London 16-18 June for the second
consecutive year. Last year's move from Birmingham
to London became a huge success. Now, the question
is whether this was the beginning of a popular trend
or just a one-off.
