China's increasing role
reflected at the show
For a western visitor this year's
edition of CPSE was a giant leap,
not only in quantity, but also in
quality, mainly because of the
fast development of the Chinese
security technology industry, espe
cially within the video surveillance
product segment. Some years
ago Chinese manufacturers were
primarily low end OEM produc
ers. Now, Chinese video surveil
lance manufacturers are covering
the mid and high end segment
too and are represented by world
known brands, such as Dahua and
Hikvision. At CPSE these compa
nies were very much highlighted
and attracted more visitors than
any other exhibitors. The status of
Hikvision and Dahua at CPSE is
equivalent to the impact enjoyed
by Siemens and Bosch at the secu
rity show in, for example, Essen,
Germany. However, there were
some other Chinese companies
showing ambitions to become suc
cessful exporters, such as Tandy or
Uniview, just to mention a few.
Unofficial
"badge market" outside
The massive flow of people enter
ing the CPSE is not comparable
to any other security exhibition
in the world. This year the lines
to enter were extremely long for
those who had no badges as they
arrived to the show. This created a
"market" outside the venue where
individuals offered ready printed
badges to visitors which made
people enter the venue quicker
most expensive were the badges
marked as VIP which gave access
at all entrances to the CPSE show.
Priority for stronger brands
In terms of space capacity, CPSE
2013 has reached the upper limits
for the Shenzhen Convention
& Exhibition Center. Next step,
CPSE will make a preferential
policy in favour of enterprises
with stronger brand impact, R&D
competency, innovative capac
ity and development potential.
The intention of this is to further
increase the quality of the ex
hibitors as the quantity cannot be
expanded upon. n
Kingdom, the United States,
Canada, Brazil, South Africa,
Russia, India, Turkey, the Middle
East, ASEAN, South Korea, Hong
Kong, Macao, Taiwan were all
present at CPSE 2013, as well as
security professionals and buyers
from public security, transporta
tion, electric power, education,
medical care, culture and so on,
from 31 provinces, cities and
autonomous regions in China.
On-spot business
for 23 billion yuan
Compared to the scale of the 13th
CPSE held in 2011, CPSE 2013
exhibition space had increased
by 10,000 square metres (10%),
the number of standard exhibi
tion booths had increased by 865
(22%), the number of exhibitors
had increased by 134 (13.5%); the
volume of onthespot transac
tions in CPSE 2011 reached 20
billion yuan, and in CPSE 2013
it has exceeded 23 billion yuan,
according to the statistics from the
organiser.
