The Scandic Hotel Ermitage, Copenhagen is playing host this week to the Sectech show organised by AR Media International Ab. Last night, a well attended celebration dinner was held to announce the winners of the prestigious 2004 Detektor International Awards.
The Detektor International Awards were introduced five years ago to honour those invaluable products and manufacturers that have contributed particularly innovative, original and/or new technological designs and developments to our industry.
In order to demonstrate this prestige, the prizes themselves, in addition to being a gesture of recognition, are specially commissioned works of art, designed and produced by Bertil Vallien, one of the Worlds leading artists in glass sculpture.
The nominations were chosen from the vast array of products introduced to the industry over the last 12 months. The shortlisted finalists were named at the recent SKYDD show in Stockholm, and from there the Detektor International panel of judges selected a "Best Product" and a "Highly Commended" product in each of the three categories, of CCTV, Access Control and Alarm Products. The prize winners were each presented with an Awards Certificate and flowers at the ceremony.
The CCTV category winner was iOmniscient for the IQ Series of Intelligent Video Surveillance Systems and Qinetiq took the "Highly Commended" certifcate as runner up with the StableEyes.
The Access Control winners were Gunnebo with Best Product, for the Immsec immigration gate and Lenel received the "Highly Commended" diploma for the BioGuard Reader.
In the Alarms category it was Optex that took the Best Product Award for the AX350 and 650 DH Series of Active Beams, with Protect in second place for their Protect 9000 Smoke Generator.
The remaining finalists in each category were recognised for their contribution to the development of the industry, and were presented with an "Innovative Achievement Award" certificate. These companies included, Axis, Nedap, Simons Voss Technologies, Bosch, Nordic Alarms and Bewator.
The next Detektor International Awards will be presented in the autumn of 2005 and manufacturers are encouraged to send information about any new product developments over the coming months to AR Media International AB to rachel@armedia.se.
